Fear and Greed vs. You
This month I have been reading Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. Robert Kiyosaki likes to say he had two fathers that raised him; one was rich and the other was poor. He took the life lessons that he learned from both of them and decided to share it with the world! There is a lesson that I would like to personally share with you that will help you be successful!
People’s Lives are Controlled by 2 Emotions: Fear & Greed
On a daily basis, there are a majority of us that live in constant fear and greed. Robert Kiyosaki talks particularly about how the majority of us fear not having money and not being able to live the lives that we desire. He goes on to explain how greed can come into harm us once our fears are only temporarily satisfied. He uses the example of when we receive a paycheck. He continues by explaining that we become greedy and often times spend more than we can actually afford because of that rooted fear of not having money. It’s like a high when we get paid. The satisfaction of living the life we want to results in spending most our money without making it benefit us. Greed can be good under the correct circumstance but when it isn’t in line with your goals it has damaging affects. How does this relate to success?
If we live in this constant cycle of fear and greed, we will never be successful. Many of us find ourselves in these predicaments and money isn’t the only example! Other examples include day-to-day insecurities and the fear of tomorrow. However, fear and greed are two emotions that can easily take control of our lives and hold us back from becoming successful. So, the question is how do we control them? How do we take control of our emotions? Here are some points that I believe to be necessary in order to conquer fear & greed:
- Surround Yourself With Positive Reinforcement (AmbitionDaily.com is a great start)
- Be Confident (in your goals)
- Be Patient
- Think Positive
I believe that by practicing these four points, fear and greed can be controlled and conquered.
This was an eye-opener for me! It made me realize that although we have been blessed with feeling emotions, they can often be very powerful and overwhelming. But, at the end of the day it’s our outlook, mentality, and perspective that can embark us on the road to success! So, break the cycle and test yourself! Do not allow fear and greed to hold you back from becoming the successful you!
